Eligibility Criteria | |
A candidate appearing for the selection test must be enrolled in Class V for the entire academic session 2023-24 in a Government, Government-aided, or other recognized school, or must be pursuing the ‘B’ certificate competency course from the National Institute of Open Schooling in the same district where they are seeking admission. | |
Age Limit | A candidate seeking admission must have been born between 1st May 2013 and 31st July 2015, inclusive of both dates. This criterion applies to all candidates, regardless of category, including those from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Class (OBC) groups. |
Geo location | A candidate studying in Class V is permitted to apply for admission to a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) only in the same district where they are enrolled. Only bonafide residents of the district in which the JNV is located, and who are studying Class V in that district, are eligible to apply for admission to JNVs through the JNVST. |
No of Attempt/s | No candidate is eligible to appear in the selection test for the second time, under any circumstances. |
Rural Quota |
At least 75% of the seats in a district will be allocated to candidates selected from rural areas of that district. The remaining seats will be filled based on merit from both urban and rural candidates, in accordance with the reservation criteria.
A candidate applying under the rural quota must have completed their full academic sessions in Classes III, IV, and V at Government, Government-aided, or Government-recognized schools located in rural areas. Additionally, the candidate must have completed the full academic session in Class V in a rural area within the same district where admission is being sought. |
